MetaClean

How it works

MetaClean’s processing is deliberately simple: read, remove, return. There’s no queue, no background job you have to wait on separately, and no account tracking what you’ve uploaded.

  1. Step 1

    Upload

You choose or drag in a JPG, PNG, or WEBP image. The file is validated for type and size before anything else happens.

  2. Step 2

    Analyze

MetaClean immediately reads the file's structure to find metadata fields — EXIF, IPTC, XMP, and ICC segments — and shows you what it found, without modifying the file yet.

  3. Step 3

    Choose quality & clean

Pick Original, High, 1080p, or 720p, then the image is re-encoded through a pipeline that does not carry metadata forward. Smaller originals are never enlarged by a larger preset.

  4. Step 4

    Download

The cleaned file is sent back to your browser along with a list of what was found and removed. Nothing is queued or emailed to you — the download happens right there.

A note on resizing

The High/1080p/720p presets cap the longer side of the image at 2560/1920/1280 pixels and scale the other side to match, so the picture’s proportions never change. If your original is already smaller than a preset’s cap, that preset leaves it at its original size rather than stretching it up. See the FAQ for details.
